CAPE TOWN - South Africa’s 2016 Championship Boerewors winner was crowned on Robben Island. The boerewors recipe of Olivier Kritzinger (63) from Joubertina in the Eastern Cape was the winner.
The other two Championship Boerewors finalists were Vukile Vincent Cele from Durban and Winter Reaobaka Letlhogile from Kimberley.
Jacobus Olivier Kritzinger (63) is a Project Manager from Joubertina in the Eastern Cape. Kritzinger’s passion for making boerewors has helped him to help others over the years. Having managed an old age home for almost 20 years, he was motivated to open a butchery to support the home when he learnt that it was in serious debt. Through his winning boerewors recipe sold at the butchery, he helped the home pay off the debt within two years and continues to care for the elderly to this day.
Kritzinger’s recipe will be on sale in all Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores nationwide from Friday, 16 September 2016 – just in time for Heritage Day!
