Cape Town - The Great South African Bake Off is getting down to the wire.

In this week's pie episode, six bakers were reduced the the last four, who now have two episodes to prove they have what it takes.

The reality show, a clone of The Great British Bake Off, airs on BBC Lifestyle on DStv every Tuesday.

The two contestants who went home this Tuesday were Shainaaz Kariem from Cape Town and Shawn Govender from Benoni.

We take a look at the remaining four, and their prospects:

* Cape Town painter and creative consultant Alice Toich, 24, brings an artistic touch - her salmon Wellington this week was a thing of beauty. She looks fantastic on screen, and seems consistent in her baking - if a little focussed on the look of the thing rather than the bake. And what was that big bow in her hair?

* Dot Dicks, an admin manager, 55, from Johannesburg is quiet, determined and very knowledgeable. IOL Lifestyle's money is on her to win the competition. No drama, no strange clothes - just good humour and hard work.

* Michaela Tsuen, a 22-year-old professional dancer from Cape Town. Given to stress and dramatic lying down on the floor. Great baking skills but the nerves will probably take her out in the end.

* Teddy Zaki, 42, a property manager from Johannesburg. Flamboyant, funny, gorgeous. He's the one I want to win, but a focus on bling rather than bake might his undoing.

* The show airs at 8pm on Channel 174 (DStv) - and it looks like next week may involve custards.
