Durban - Preparations are under way for Gateway's 8th annual Vodacom Durban July Preview Fashion Show and Concert.
The event, which takes place on Saturday June 25, 2016 (one week prior to race-day). takes place at the Wavehouse and will feature a host of top SA designers and performers.
Those attending can look forward to a race-day fashion extravaganza as well as a concert featuring Kyle Deutsch, Shekhinah, Sketchy Bongo, Jimmy Nevis, Timo ODV and Ryan the DJ.
In a press release, Tiffany Prior, the fashion programme director of the Vodacom Durban July says: ''This year's theme 'Leader of the Pack' has a very strong reference to a deck of cards, which has a long, colourful and interesting history.
"Designers are using the theme quite creatively and in a subtle and stylish way. However, there are also leading key words and phrases within the theme, which each designer or race day on-track entrants must keep in mind. It's about fashion finesse, absolute class, a subtle touch of glitz, good taste, styling and flair.
"The theme should not be interpreted to be theatrical, but rather think fashion, trend and above all, create a look that is race day appropriate''.
This event will feature collections from the VDJ Fashion Challenge, Invited Designer Showcase as well as key Gateway retailers revealing their interpretation of this year's theme!

VDJ FASHION CHALLENGE
The Vodacom Durban July Fashion Challenge is a competition open to all experienced and aspiring local as well as out-of-province fashion designers. It is an exciting opportunity for fashionistas to be part of the biggest horseracing and fashion event in the country.
Competition designs should speak to the theme of subtle style and sophistication, and should encompass the Vodacom Durban July's overall spirit of on-trend, elegant and beautifully executed designs.
INVITED DESIGNER SHOWCASE
The Invited Designer Showcase is by far the most glamorous element of the Vodacom Durban July Fashion Experience. Each of the eight national designers are selected because of their creativity and appeal, their experience, their participation in other high profile national fashion events such as SA Fashion Week and their current media profile.
Each designer shows a distinct and individual interpretation of the theme and will showcase their work to the public for the first time at the Gateway previews and then at the Vodacom Durban July on July 2 at Greyville Racecourse.
EAST COAST RADIO LIVE BROADCAST
East Coast Radio listeners can look forward to an exciting competition on the Damon Beard show from Monday June 20 to Friday June 24. The prize includes 2 x double tickets to Gateway's preview fashion event and concert, 2 x double tickets to race day at Greyville Race course (including transfers), as well as a 2 night stay at the Gateway Hotel.
A live broadcast will take place at Gateway on June o25 n the Carol Ofori show. Carol will take listeners through 40 of the world's hottest hits in her chart topping show from 10am to 2pm. There will be interviews with top local designer Kathrin Kidger, singer, song writer and producer Jimmy Nevis and with Zoe Brown, morning show Espresso's ever popular host and MC for the Preview Fashion Show.
CONCERT
