DURBAN - One person was lucky to escape with minor injuries after a fire broke out at an auto repair shop on Cypress Drive in Glen Anil today.

According to Marshall Security, the fire broke out just after 12.30pm today.

Marshall Security’s Andreas Mathios said the security company’s armed response officers arrived on the scene together with eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services and found the building well alight.

As the fire began raging out of control, Mathios said additional fire trucks were sent to the scene to assist.

He said the source of the fire is unknown at this stage.

“The damage to infrastructure is expected to run into millions of rand,” said Mathios.

He added that adjacent buildings were also evacuated.
