Moscow - A Russian space craft carrying more than 2.6 tons of freight including sweets and chocolate blasted into orbit on Wednesday headed for the International Space Station, the control centre said.
Launched from the Baikonur space centre in Kazakhstan at 17h15 GMT, the Progress M-05M was mainly carrying water, food, fuel and medicine, the Russian news agency Interfax quoted a spokesperson at the centre as saying.
The automated vessel was also carrying a "psychological support" package containing sweets, chocolate and caramel, the agency said.
Progress is due to arrive at ISS on May 1. The space station is currently occupied by three Russian cosmonauts, two US astronauts, and a Japanese crew member. - Sapa-AFP
