Volcano shuts down Europe airspaces

European aviation control agency Eurocontrol said it expected to close or restrict several northern and western European airspaces later on Thursday due to the spread of volcanic dust from Iceland.

Eurocontrol said it expected Denmark east, southern Sweden, Irish airspace (except for Oceanic airspace), Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Brussels airspaces would be closed or become progressively unavailable throughout the afternoon and early evening.

It added that British airspace, Denmark north and west and northern Sweden airspace was already closed. - Reuters
