The current Subaru XV crossover, based on the Impreza hatchback, came to our market rather late - so late, in fact, that it's being replaced soon.

This official teaser picture supplied by Subaru shows the basic outline of what it calls the XV Concept - due to be shown in the flesh at the Auto Shanghai motor show next week.

If you put two and two together, especially since Subaru has just teased its new Impreza sedan ahead of its revel next week, then this concept is likely just a lightly disguised version of the new XV crossover, its reveal also showing us what the new Impreza hatch looks like in pumped up form.

Much like the VW PoloCross, the XV is a hatchback dressed up as an SUV - except the Scooby actually is a four-wheel drive. Expect much the same from the new version together with a more palatable design and a more economical boxer engine.
