Barcelona - He might not be an angel, but Ferrari F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen did get to feel what it's like to have a halo.

Ferrari tested a prototype of the halo cockpit head-protection unit on Thursday on day three of the second Formula One pre-season test in Barcelona.

Driver Kimi Raikkonen completed two laps of the Circuit de Catalunya track with the device, designed to protect drivers from flying debris, fitted to his car.

Most drivers have welcomed the introduction of the halo from 2017 but a few have said they would prefer cockpits to remain open.

Former world champion Raikkonen was reported by Ferrari as saying the view for drivers was “okay” even with halo installed.
