A road trip to the Serengeti in Tanzania is usually something that an adventurer would consider tackling in a big, proper 4x4 but travel writer Anton Crone and filmmaker Brett Wild have a far 'smaller' idea in mind.

The pair, who are set to depart from Cape Town next week, plan to cover more than 8000km through five African countries to the Serengeti - just south of the equator - in a Smart car.

Besides hoping to persuade people that they don't need a 4x4 to tackle the harsh African landscape, the pair also have another cause in mind:

IGNITING CHANGE

“The purpose of our Smart in Africa journey is to ignite change by sharing the stories of individuals and organizations that, through their own clever initiatives, are helping Africa move forward,” Anton enthused.

Along the way they will also be meeting up with numerous people that are making big differences in their communities.

“There is much to learn from Africa and we hope these stories of people who make a difference in their communities - often in the face of great economic and environmental adversity - will inspire people worldwide to make take their own steps, no matter how small, to make their own changes in their communities,” Anton added.

According to Anton, the size of the car also symbolises how 'small' ideas can make a big difference.

All the best guys.
