Who would you choose to drive with?

.

Personally, my life has been significantly improved since I decided to allow no further thoughts about Piers Morgan, Jeremy Clarkson, Dawn French and Alan 'Chatty Man' Carr.

South African men would rather go for a ride with the UK’s biggest motor-mouth than with SA’s sexiest woman.

A national survey conducted by BP Ultimate, which included more than 300 drivers from various backgrounds, found that an astonishing 75 percent of men chose Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson as their perfect motoring mate over gorgeous Jeannie D - who was recently voted this year’s Sexiest Woman by You magazine.

Women drivers, however, seemed more interested in eye candy. Soccer sensation Simphiwe Tshabalala and cricketer JP Duminy lost out to rugby star Francois Hougaard, as more than 56 percent of woman wanted hunky Hougaard by their side.

Surprisingly, more than 55 percent of men and women admitted to spending more money on their cars than themselves, and almost 20 percent have named their cars and even celebrate their car’s birthdays. Yes, we are a nation of car lovers.

The poll also revealed that one in two drivers see drive time as down time and would rather drive solo than have any form of company - no matter whether it’s a spouse, lover, friend or celebrity.

A scenic mountain pass was the most popular setting for the perfect drive, closely followed by an ocean drive. Cruising along a country lane only appealed to nine percent.

Youve got to be kidding, right?

.

Setting off on a long weekend was the favourite destination for 43 percent of drivers, although most stated that they simply enjoy driving, wherever they may be headed.

When asked about what the colour of a car says about you, more than 31 percent said black is the new sexy, closely contested by red usually associated with sex-appeal, and white was rated the third most trendy car colour for 2011, with silver fourth.

Engine performance still rates much higher in terms of importance than fuel economy and the environment. Those polled also tended to choose a brand of fuel based on quality and efficiency.

Commenting on the findings, BP corporate communications manager Glenda Zvenyika said: “It’s clear that South African motorists enjoy driving and want the best for their cars, which goes beyond just having a great-looking car. - Star Motoring

Madness, i would go for a ride with Jeannie D anyday over over Jeremy Clarkson. A national survey which included more than 300 drivers, only poor statistical inferences can be drawn from a sample size that small.

I think there's also the matter of the SA's sexiest Woman YOU poll.... why not FHM's sexiest woman, Sashi Naidoo? I think BP ran this kind of poll through the entirely wrong magazine! But anyway, I'd still rather drive with JC!

I think BP just got the wording all wrong. They should have asked - would you want to ride Jeanie D or Jeremy C?

When it comes to cars, any red blooded male will choose a trip around the track the Jeremy for the sole reason he will not be wearing high heels, worrying about false nails, if the makup is on right or how the helet is mucking up his hair. He at least will drive like he stole it.
