Dearborn, Michigan - The unusual black and silver livery on this, the 2017 Ford GT '66 Heritage, pays tribute to the 1966 Le Mans race-winning GT40 Mark II driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon.
Just a few 2017 models will be finished with these unique race-number graphics and special interior trim.
The body will be either gloss or matte black (your choice) with silver stripes, white race numbers and clear-lacquered carbon fibre aero kit. The 20 inch one-piece forged alloy rims will be finished in gold satin clear coat with black wheel-nuts.
The standard carbon fibre bucket seats will be upholstered in black leather with pillowed inserts, contrasting top-stitching and Ford GT logos on the head restraints. The dashboard, pillars and headliner will also be trimmed in black leather, with clear-lacquered carbon fibre trim elements and gold appliqués on the instrument panel, the X-braces of the seats and the shift paddles.
The steering wheel will also be leather trimmed, as on the 1966 race car, and the seatbelts will be bright blue. The race No.2 will be echoed on the door panels, and each car will come with a numbered plaque.
Sadly, since the GT is not available in right-hand drive, none of those few will be coming to South Africa - but a boy can dream, can't he?
