Cape Town - An all-new version of South Africa's best-selling SUV is being introduced this week.

We're currently attending the launch in the Western Cape and while that all goes down, let's start you off with all the basic facts and figures - including the all-important pricing. Don't forget to come back for our full launch report on Friday.

IT'S REALLY ALL-NEW

The styling gives that fact away, and the underpinnings beneath that are largely derived from the new Hilux bakkie, except for things like the rear suspension of course. Fancier versions of the new Fortuner also introduce new gadgets to the range, such as touch-screen satnav and a powered tailgate.

THE ENGINES

On the diesel front, as per the new Hilux, you get a choice between Toyota's latest 2.4-litre (110kW/400Nm) and 2.8-litre (130kW/420-450Nm) turbodiesel engines.

A normally aspirated 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine, also a familiar Hilux stalwart, joins the petrol range, offering 122kW and 245Nm, and the top gun is Toyota's 175kW/376Nm 4-litre V6.
