Two-tone paint jobs are trendy on the boutique hatch block where you find Minis, Adams and the likes and though Toyota's Yaris is clearly more of a mainstream hatch, it's not letting that get in the way of its fun.

Toyota South Africa is now offering the Yaris with one of three 'Bi-tone' exterior paint options, all giving you the choice of any upper body colour as long as it's metallic black. The lower body can be ordered in Pearl White, Crimson Metallic (that's red, guys) and Grey Metallic.

The black upper section runs along the lower window line and extends along the top of the front fenders to create something of a cross shape visual effect that appears to run beneath the headlights and into the grille.

The Bi-tone colours are available as a no-cost option across the four-model range, which offers three engine options: 1.0 (51kW/95Nm) and 1.3 (73kW/125Nm) normally aspirated petrols and a 74kW 1.5 petrol-electric hybrid

Standard features across the range include air conditioning, touch-screen audio system with Bluetooth and steering-mounted controls, electric windows and mirrors and 15-inch alloy wheels.

All versions are also sold with a four-year/60 000km service plan.
