Johannesburg - Motorsport South Africa (MSA) has announced a new initiative to help racers involved in any form of four-wheeled motorsport equip themselves with what it takes to compete at elite levels.

The Motorsport Development Academy is open to South African competitors between the ages of 16 and 23, and successful applicants will be enrolled in a three-day course to be held at the University of Pretoria and Gerotek testing facilities from July 3 to 5.

The special programme, organised by MSA and its partners the High Performance Centre of the University of Pretoria and Toyota Advanced Driving, will combine a variety of physical exercises and tests, as well as driving exercises with classroom tuition on a variety of subjects including sports science, nutrition, anti-doping, marketing and sponsorship, among other subjects.

Only 18 drivers will be accepted by the Academy, and applications must be in by May 13. Go to www.motorsport.co.za and click on the MSA Development link to download an application form.
