Monte Carlo, Monaco - This is the moment when works Volkswagen driver Jari-Matta Latvala lost the plot (literally) on Stage 11 of the Monte Carlo Rally, ditched the Polo and skittled a photographer who, amazingly, didn't appear to be hurt. Organisers took a dim view, however, after Latvala zoomed off without stopping to check that the lensman was OK, and handed him a suspended one-rally ban as well as fining him €5000 (R90 000). "I am sorry for what happened," said Latvala afterwards. "I didn't see anything due to the smoke coming out of the engine and the mud on the windscreen after we came out of the ditch."
