Cameroon struggles as floods continueComment on this story
Yaounde, Cameroon - Fourteen people have died and several thousand others have been displaced by flooding that has swept across northern Cameroon since August, sources said.
“Fourteen people died in flooding in the last few weeks in the north,” a local source said, adding that thousands of others were displaced. Local media reported the same death toll.
The floods were triggered by “heavy rain and the release of water from a dam” in Lagdo last month, the source added.
Thirty people have also died from flooding in neighbouring Nigeria, with 120 000 people displaced, an emergency management agency official from the north-eastern state of Adamawa said on Sunday. - Sapa-AFP
