At least five people were killed as forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi shelled the lifeline port in the besieged city of Misrata on Wednesday, a rebel spokesperson told AFP.
“There has been a lot of shelling in Misrata today,” said Jalal al-Gallal in Libya's second city of Benghazi where rebels have their headquarters, adding that at least five people had been killed.
“I am afraid the number could be far higher than we would like to hear,” Gallal said, adding that rebels were still trying to verify the total number of casualties for the past 72 hours. -
