Johannesburg - Public Enterprise Minister Malusi Gigaba on Thursday conveyed his condolences to the families of the three Denel employees killed in Somalia.

He was “saddened” by deaths, particularly those of the South Africans, said his spokesman Mayihlome Tshwete.

Morne Lotter, 42, of Oudtshoorn, Alan Simpson, 35, of Port Elizabeth, and Somalian Isak Mohammed Osman were killed in an attack on a United Nations facility in Somalia on Wednesday.

They were part of a contingent in the company's humanitarian demining operations, Mechem, and were providing camp management services to UN operations in the region.

Tshwete said Gigaba had offered his condolences in his capacity as the shareholder representative of the Denel Group. - Sapa
