Johannesburg - The mufti of the Muslim national party of South Africa, Al Jama-ah said on Sunday it had issued a fatwa that Christians and people of others faiths not be isolated and targeted to be killed at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya.
A South African is among the 59 people killed in the attack on the mall, reportedly by Somali Islamist militants.
Al Jama-ah leader Ganief Hendricks said in the statement the party had not ruled out the possibility involvement of foreigners - including westerners - in the attack.
“They do not care how many people are killed as long as Islam is portrayed in a bad light,” he said.
Hendricks said the fatwa (a decree issued by a Muslim religious leader) would be spread by the media to reach those involved in the attack. - Sapa
