Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma would undertake a state visit to Senegal next week, the department of international relations and co-operation said on Saturday.
“President Zuma will meet with his Senegalese counterpart, President Macky Sall, to strengthen bilateral relations between South Africa and Senegal and exchange views on critical regional and global issues,” it said in the statement.
The visit was expected to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Zuma would be accompanied by International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Agriculture Minister Tina
Joemat-Pettersson, Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba, Arts and Culture Minister Paul Mashatile, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, and Deputy Economic Development Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize.
The delegation would also include business people, who would attend the South Africa-Senegal business forum on Thursday.
The international relations department said the visit would afford the presidential delegation an opportunity to “engage with the Senegalese government on specific areas of interest between the two countries”.
“South Africa and Senegal share the same view that trade proposals should be specific in order to inform business delegations and facilitate their business deals.”
