London - Susan Boyle went straight to the top of the British album charts with her second album ``The Gift'', the Official UK Charts company said on Sunday.

Boyle, 49, who became an international superstar after appearing on the TV show ``Britain's Got Talent'' in 2009, sings a mixture of carols and pop classics on ``The Gift''.

Her debut album ``I Dreamed a Dream'' was the biggest seller in the world in 2009 with about 8,3 million sales.

Boyle's ``The Gift'' knocked ``X Factor'' judge and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole from the No 1 spot, while James Blunt's latest album ``Some Kind of Trouble'' landed at No 4.

US R&B singer Rihanna held off a new entry from British man band Take That to cling to the top spot in the singles charts for a second week running.

Rihanna's ``Only Girl (In The World)'' held off ``The Flood'' - the first Take That single to feature Robbie Williams since he quit the five piece band in 1995. The group will have to wait until next week to see if it can secure its 12th UK No. 1 hit.

McFly featuring Taio Cruz shot to No 4 with ``Shine A Light'' - the pop guitar band's 15th top five single.

The Royal British Legion's Remembrance Sunday single ``2 Minute Silence'' was a new entry at 20. - Reuters
