Doctors in China have removed a 6cm piece of broken plastic chopstick from a woman’s eye socket - after 11 years, a report said.

Accordinf to orange news, Ci Yang went to hospital with an eye infection but had no idea of the real cause of her condition.

“Her right eye was badly swollen. The situation was quite severe,” says Doctor Xu Zhe of Hua Xi hospital.

While examining Ci, Dr Xu noticed a bone- coloured object in the corner of her eye.

He ordered a CAT scan and Ci received surgery on the same day to remove the piece of plastic.

She then remembered that 11 years ago she’d slipped and her face had hit the dining table.

Ci says over the years the eye’s given little trouble and Dr Xu adds that she was lucky the chopstick penetrated the gap between her eye and her eye socket, which is why her vision is unaffected. - Daily Voice
