London -

A British Airways flight was cancelled shortly before take-off because staff spotted a mouse on board.

Some 165 passengers had their travel plans thrown into chaos when Flight BA115 from Heathrow to New York was cancelled last Friday.

Many assumed that the sighting of a mouse was a hygiene concern, but the airline’s main fear was the hungry rodent chewing the plane’s wiring.

Passengers were offered alternative flights to New York, but had to wait at least until the following day.

One passenger said: “I refused the alternative flight and instead got offered £100 BA vouchers. I couldn’t believe it when they said the flight was cancelled because of a mouse.”

British Airways said: “A mouse was caught and removed and the aircraft is now back in service.” - Daily Mail
