A Zambian reality TV show is helping former sex workers find husbands, the BBC has reported.

Called “Ready for Marriage”, the Muvi TV reality show is giving 18 prostitutes the opportunity to win cash and a wedding.

The channel’s spokesperson Coreena Paulina told the BBC: “We want to make a difference to women’s lives. These are people, after all.”

The contestants were recruited from the streets throughout the country.

The sex worker voted out by viewers each week will receive a consolation prize consisting of hard cash and a job offer.

Many of the prostitutes have said they “sold their bodies” in order to sustain a life and look after their children.

It is not yet known when the show will air in Zambia. - Daily Voice
