Pretoria - Two more young women have laid charges against a man who acted as a photographer for a modelling agency only to allegedly lure aspiring models to his flat and rape them.

The women, who cannot be named due to the nature of the crime, laid a charge of rape at the Pretoria Central police station against the 30-year-old man.

The man was arrested on Saturday and appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court, where he was charged with rape. He is set to apply for bail next Monday.

Eight women have come forward and detailed how the accused initiated contact with them on Facebook and then lured them to his flat near Burgers Park under the pretence of taking modelling photographs. More victims are expected to come forward.

The Pretoria News on Wednesday reported that a 19-year-old woman opened a case against the accused, saying she was raped after going at the man's flat.

She said the incident took place in September, but she was initially ashamed of going to the police until she was advised to do so.

The father of another 19-year-old said her daughter was left with deep psychological scars and undergoing therapy after falling victim to the man.

"She is obviously traumatised and is undergoing serious therapy. She was partly blaming herself and slept over the incident for two nights before finally reporting to me. We immediately opened a case," said the father.

The emotional father said his daughter was shattered as she believed that she was being afforded an opportunity to be a model.
