Johannesburg - Four people died and one person was seriously injured after a head-on collision on the N12 highway between Klerksdorp and Wolmaransstad in the North West on Thursday.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Mering said that on arrival at the scene, paramedics found a man and woman lying trapped in an SUV, while another man and woman were trapped in the second SUV.
All four had succumbed to multiple fatal injuries and nothing could be done for them.
A third woman, who was trapped inside one of the SUVs, had to be extricated from the vehicle by paramedics before they could perform advanced life support on her .
She was immediately transported to Wolmaransstad Hospital for urgent treatment. “The details surrounding the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” said Mering.
