Self-proclaimed fashion icon Uyanda Mbuli wore floral sunglasses, a broad-brimmed hat, bedroom slippers and a hot pink robe, smiling and walking in the hot sun.
Handcuffs were the only indication of her arrest as Uyanda was escorted into Midrand police station on Thursday afternoon.
“She keeps taking her robe off in the holding cell and she’s naked underneath,” said an arresting officer, who wished to remain nameless.
He said they were called to the residence of her husband, Sisa, after he reported that she had assaulted him.
Her legal adviser, ex-president Nelson Mandela’s former lawyer, Bally Chuene, arrived at the station almost immediately. He was unavailable for comment.
In March, Uyanda was reported by the Sunday World to have laid a charge against Sisa for violating a protection order.
The couple is going through a bitter divorce after 10 years of marriage.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said: “She was arrested for the charges of violation of protection order in terms of the Domestic Violence Act. The suspect is 32 years old. At the moment we don’t know if she will apply for bail.” He declined to comment on who had laid the charges.
