The lawyer for the driver who drove the Dewani couple into Gugulethu says “all will be revealed” when his client Zola Tongo, 31, appears in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday with his two co-accused.

Tongo is expected to enter into a plea bargain agreement with the National Prosecuting Authority tomorrow. His lawyer, William da Grass, said he was prepared and that “all will be revealed” if the case goes ahead on Monday as anticipated.

Meanwhile speculation has been mounting over the weekend as to the whereabouts of UK millionaire Shrien Dewani, 30.

The media has been trying to establish whether Dewani is back in South Africa after sources claimed a government department had signed off on a plane ticket for him and he was arriving this weekend.

There are even some who claim that Dewani arrived in the country – but not in Cape Town – a week ago.

But an email on Friday from his publicist Max Clifford said: “I can confirm that Shrien is definitely not in South Africa.”

Dewani’s Johannesburg lawyer Billy Gundelfinger unexpectedly withdrew from the case without any explanation, save to say that lawyers “do it all the time”.

It also emerged that Dewani was previously engaged to Rani Kansagra, the daughter of tycoon Bhupendra Kansagra, who owns budget airline SpiceJet. And yesterday the Daily Mail newspaper reported that, despite a glamorous marriage ceremony in India, Anni was not legally married to Dewani.

Meanwhile a source said that Anni’s family in Sweden are looking at the possibility of hiring a private investigator, as her father, Vinod Hindocha, has complained about being kept out of the loop and wants answers.

The Wynberg Magistrate’s Court is expected to be packed to capacity tomorrow as the three accused, Tongo, Xolile Mngeni, 23, and Mzwamadoda Qwabe, 26, appear to answer to charges relating to the murder of Anni, who was shot in the neck in Gugulethu on the night of November 13 while she and her husband were on their honeymoon.

On Friday lawyers for Mngeni and Qwabe claimed that their clients had been tortured after their arrest.

Lawyers Vusi Tshabalala and Thabo Nogemane said they would raise the matter in court. This could lead to delays in the case with a trial-within-a-trial to test the admissibility of any confessions obtained by the police.

However it appears that the men have not been medically examined, nor have complaints been laid with the police watchdog the Independent Complaints Directorate.
