Pretoria - Wandile Bozwana’s family were unhappy with the pace of his murder court case after it was postponed yet again in the Kgosi Mampuru II Prison Court on Wednesday.
Benedict Bozwana, Wandile’s brother and the family spokesman, said on Wednesday that the family felt the court case was taking too long.
“We are not so happy. It is taking too long. There are too many postponements. This is weighing very heavily on the family. We want to know who murdered our brother and who ordered the hit,” Benedict said.
Four men - who cannot be identified by order of the court - appeared on Wednesday, charged with the billionaire businessman's murder.
They face a host of charges, including murder, attempted murder, possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of ammunition and the illegal production, distribution or possession of a (jamming) device designed primarily for the purpose of overcoming data protection security measures.
Advocate Victor Nkhwashu, representing the first three accused, could not attend proceedings. The fourth accused was recently arrested but has his own attorney representing him.
Due to the addition of a fourth suspect, the case had to be postponed to August 24 for further investigation.
The first two accused were arrested in December.
The third - the owner of a popular nightclub in Pretoria - was arrested a few months later and was said to bethe mastermind behind the murder.
He allegedly said Bozwana was blocking tenders for him - a statement the Bozwana family have denied.
The fourth accused was arrested most recently and made his second appearance yesterday.
According to media reports, he allegedly admitted to being tasked with organising the men who shot Bozwana.
Bozwana and his employee, Mpho Baloyi, were shot in October last year as they drove down the N1 to Pretoria.
Baloyi, who was driving a car belonging to one of Bozwana’s businesses, had stopped at the Garsfontein off-ramp when they were ambushed by a group of men travelling in a BMW M3.
Bozwana later died. Baloyi was admitted to hospital but discharged two days afterwards.
Prosecutor Matric Luphondo said all four accused were remanded in custody but could apply for bail at any point.
