Cape Town - A police constable from the Table View police station has been arrested for possession of tik, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

The anti corruption unit raided the female officer’s Table View home, on Wednesday morning, police said in a statement.

“The South African Police Service will not hesitate to take action against any person who breaks the law, even if that person is a member of SAPS,” spokesperson Andre Traut said.

Police seized a small amount of tik and drug paraphernalia.

A total of 22 9mm rounds “in addition to the quantity she was authorised to possess” as well as an official SAPS stamp was confiscated from the 36-year-old woman.

“We have reason to believe that the member was involved in a corrupt relationship with drug dealers which is also currently under investigation,” said Traut.

She is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
