Durban - The case against 27 police officers facing racketeering, murder and robbery charges was postponed in the Durban High Court on Friday.

The case was postponed to allow an application to have the racketeering charges quashed to proceed.

The 27 are members of the former Durban Organised Crime Unit that operated out of the Cato Manor police station.

The men were all arrested in 2012 along with their former commander Major General Johan Booysen, who was also charged at the time.

In February 2014 Durban High Court Judge Trevor Gorven threw out the charges against Booysen.

On Friday the case against the 27 police officers was postponed to October 9.
