Dundee - Dundee police detectives have arrested four alleged fraudsters in a crime intelligence-driven operation, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Saturday.

The four suspects were arrested for forgery and uttering, Captain Nqobile Gwala said.

The suspects were arrested in the Dundee CBD on Friday after they upgraded cellphone contracts with one of the major service providers using fraudulent documents, he said.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects had been operating at Glencoe, Dundee, Newcastle, and Ladysmith. Police seized a number of fraudulent documents, including identity documents with different photos. The suspects would be profiled to determine the number of cases they could be linked to.

They would be charged with corruption and would appear in court soon. The suspects were driving a vehicle with Gauteng registration plates and were all from Johannesburg, Gwala said.
