A senior Johannesburg police officer accused of making bomb threats and intimidating other officers was released on R10,000 bail by the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate's Court, Gauteng police said on Friday.

“He (Maj-Gen Michael Mohlala) applied for an urgent bail application yesterday (Thursday) and was released,” said Lt-Col Tshisikhawe Ndou.

“It's unclear at this point when the case was postponed to.”

The court was unable to provide a date, or further information.

The city's cluster commander was arrested in the Vaal Triangle last week. -
