Johannesburg - A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he was found in possession of two bags filled with copper piping in Ladysmith, police said in a statement.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said Ladysmith Visible Policing officers stopped and searched the suspect in the Ladysmith CBD.

Zwane said the man was arrested after he failed to provide an explanation as to where he had obtained the copper piping.

“He faces charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property,” Zwane said.

The man is due to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
