Two police constables and two other men have been arrested for allegedly raping teenagers in separate incidents in Pretoria over the weekend.

Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said one of the constables was with another man when they stopped to give a 15-year-old girl a lift home from school on Friday.

The men allegedly took her to a Pretoria house and raped her.

They were arrested when she identified them after telling her family what had happened.

In a second incident, another constable and another man were arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a 19-year-old girl at a house near Centurion, in Pretoria, on Saturday.

The four men would appear in the Pretoria Regional Court on charges of rape. Dlamini did not say when.

He said that, in a separate matter, a Soweto man was arrested in Naledi on Friday for allegedly murdering a policeman in Emdeni, Soweto, on December 7.

Police also recovered the car used in the attack.

Dlamini said the arrest followed those of three men on Wednesday, in connection with the same incident. One of them was shot in the leg during the arrest and was under police guard in hospital.

They would all appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court. Dlamini did not say when. -
