Welkom – Welkom police are trying to identify a murder victim and track down his murderer/s, Free State police said on Sunday.
Welkom Police received a tip - off at about 6am on Monday about a body found in the Klip Pan next to the Oppenheimer golf course in Welkom, Captain Stephen Thakeng said.
"On arrival of Welkom SAPS [South African Police Service] members the body [of] an unknown African man was found with both hands tied up at his back with a wire and his neck was cut open with [an] unknown object."
The dead man was wearing a blue and white T-shirt with red stripes, blue trousers, and black gum boots. He had yet to be identified.
"Residents are therefore requested to assist in tracing relatives [of the man]," Thakeng said.
