Rustenburg - A Rustenburg councillor accused of attacking members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) briefly appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

The case against African National Congress councillor, Luvuyo Tolo Maqwane, 54, was postponed to September 7, for investigation.

Maqwane, a ward councillor in the Rustenburg municipality, is facing charges of malicious damaged to property, intimidation and assault.

The State alleged that Maqwane smashed Stanley Komape’s car windscreen shield with a stone in an attempted to stop the EFF from getting into the Popo Molefe informal settlement near Rustenburg on July 15, stating that the informal settlement was a no-go area for other political parties.
