Rustenburg - A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his three-month-old son in Reagile near Koster, North West police said on Thursday.
“According to information received, the suspect was engaged in a rift with his 21-year-old girlfriend while she was holding their baby in her arms. It was during that moment when the suspect allegedly grabbed a piece of wood and tried to hit the girlfriend with it, however, he hit the baby on his head,” said Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night at about 9pm.
He said after the incident, the couple called paramedics who took the boy to hospital, where he died on Wednesday.
“The suspect is expected to appear in the Koster Magistrate’s Court today [Thursday] on a charge of murder.”
