Upington – Six suspects are in police custody in Rosedale, Upington, after a police search of a shack uncovered dagga with a street value of around R120 000, Northern Cape police said on Friday.

Police spokesman Sergio Kock said the arrest happened on Thursday evening after members of the local visible policing and crime intelligence units searched a house in the Rosedale informal settlement following a tip-off about drugs being sold from a shack.

“Police dug up 9 bags of dagga that was buried inside the shanty. The dagga weighs 25 kg and has a street value of approximately R120,000,” said Kock.

“Police arrested five males and one female at the premises. The suspects are between 25 and 35 years old respectively and should be appearing in the Upington Magistrate’s Court soon.”
