Brits – Mark Zinde, 23 – who is accused of murdering his television personality mother, Hope Zinde – will appear in the Brits Regional Court in Tuesday to hear whether a high court date has been set for his trial.

The State alleges that he killed his mother at their home in Pecanwood Estate, Hartbeespoort Dam near Brits in June last year. He is facing a charge of murder and possession of drug.

The murder accused's 50-year-old mother was an SABC journalist, television news anchor and eventually a board member before she left the public broadcaster to form her own media company.

During Zinde's last appearance on January 25, the court dismissed his application to be re-admitted at the Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria.

Zinde also faces a charge of assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.

He allegedly attacked his father, Dr Lebohang Manoto, at his Walkerville home, south of Johannesburg.

The accused was arrested in November last year and that matter is being heard at the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court.
