The firm run by the British businessman whose bride was killed in Gugulethu is £6.25 million (about R70 -million) in debt, a British tabloid has reported.

According to The Sun website, Shrien Dewani - back in the UK to organise the funeral of Anni - is facing a a cash crisis with his PSP Healthcare company.

The care home chain he set up with his brother and father in 2005 owes £4 million just in bank loans, the report said. Figures for 2008 to 2009 reveal net losses doubled to £822 000 in a year.

This year's returns are overdue.

Anni Dewani was shot dead after being hijacked in Gugulethu on Saturday night. Shrien was released unharmed.

Two Khayelitsha men have been arrested for the murder.

On Thursday Xolile Mngeni, 26, of Khayelitsha appeared in the Wynberg Regional Court on charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele said the second person arrested was also a 26-year-old male from Khayelitsha .

Asked why Dewani's husband had been allowed to leave South Africa so soon after the killing Cele said: “He's not a suspect so we can't hold him against his will if he wants to go.”

However the South African and United Kingdom police worked very closely, Cele said.

“It would not be a problem whatsoever working with them if we want to pursue (sic).”

Cele said police had recovered two cellphones, a bangle and watch that linked the apparent hijacking to the two men already arrested.

He said the post mortem had not indicated sexual assault. -
