Johannesburg - A domestic worker has been arrested for her alleged role in the armed robbery of her employers.

The robbery occurred in Azaadville in Mogale City in November last year, when the homeowners and the now arrested domestic worker were tied to their chairs while the robbers ransacked the house, making off with goods and an undisclosed amount of cash, police spokesman Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

The robbery left the family and police confused because there was no sign of forced entry into the house, Sibiya said.

After a seven-month investigation, police on Friday arrested the 39-year-old domestic worker, along with two Mozambican men, aged 35 and 37.

The domestic worker is reported to have continued working for the family after the robbery, and left early this year to work for another family in the same area. Investigations into the robbery led police to the first suspect in Tshepisong, Soweto.

After his arrest, he led the police to the domestic worker, who was arrested at her house in Rietvallei, near Azaadville.

The first suspect also led police to the third suspect, who was arrested for his alleged role in the crime. Investigations are continuing.
