Cape Town - A drug mule has been arrested at the Cape Town International Airport after cocaine worth half a million rand was found hidden in his luggage, South African Police Service said.

Police said the 27-year-old man was was arrested “for possession of cocaine with estimated street value of R500 000 on Monday afternoon”.

The suspect had earlier arrived on an international flight before his luggage was searched.

Western Cape police said: “Management is pleased with the arrests of drug mules in the past few days and commend members in their efforts to fight drug trafficking.”

The suspect will appear in a Bellville court on Wednesday
