Durban - A 49-year-old woman employed by the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Durban has been arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property, including medication, police said in a statement.

Directorate for priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said the woman was arrested following information that she was selling medication from her home.

“Her house was located at Amaoti area near Inanda. Members swooped on her house and requested a permission to search,” Mhlongo said.

Mhlongo said upon searching, various tablets, medication, injections and syringes were found at the home of the woman. “Some of the medication found was classified as schedule four. She was subsequently arrested and charged accordingly.”

The woman was due to appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court on Monday.
