Eastern Cape cops nab 45 in one weekend

Johannesburg – At least 45 suspected criminals were arrested for various offences during intense high visibility patrols around King Williams Town in Eastern Cape over the weekend, police said.

In a statement on Tuesday police said the suspects aged between of 20 and 57 were arrested for crimes ranging from possession of drugs, common robbery, drunkenness, theft and common assault.

"A 30-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs after he was found in possession of 25 bags of tik and an undisclosed amount of cash in Henry Street," police said.

"Thirteen of these suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. All the suspects will appear in the King Williams Town Magistrate's Court soon."
