Bloemfontein - Bloemfontein police are looking for five murder suspects in two separate incidents in the city this week, Free State police said on Sunday.

On Friday night a liquor shop owner in phase 2 in Mangaung was about to close his shop when three armed men stormed in and demanded money, Sergeant Ikobeng Hlubi said.

“After getting the money the suspects allegedly fired shots at the owner. One bullet fatally hit the bottle store owner in the chest. Fortunately one of the employees managed to run out and call for help. The suspects then fled the scene in a white Hyundai i20 with an undisclosed amount of money.”

In the second incident on Thursday, a 46-year-old man was attacked by two men he caught attempting to break into his Bloemanda house as he arrived home.

The men demanded money and when he refused they allegedly threw a burning paraffin heater at him and ran away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The man was rushed to hospital where he later died, Hlubi said.

All the suspects were still at large and the Kagisanong police have asked possible witnesses or anyone with any information regarding the two incidents to please contact their nearest police station or Kagisanong police on 051-403-1757.
