Johannesburg - The Goodman Gallery security guard arrested for assaulting the man who damaged “The Spear” will appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Paul Molesiwa from Core Tactical (a private security company) was out on R1 000 bail and last appeared in court in May.

He is charged with attacking Louis Mabokela, who defaced artist Brett Murray's controversial painting of President Jacob Zuma.

Molesiwa's lawyer, Rod Montano, said his client was the second guard trying to restrain Mabokela.

“The guards were briefed that morning of bomb threats and death threats at the gallery. It is our contention he was doing his job.” - Sapa
