The SAPS has called on the public to assist in tracking down four of South Africa’s most wanted criminals, linked to a series of violent crimes.

Gauteng’s police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Mzwandile Petros, said: “We appeal to the public to keep their eyes open and assist us in apprehending these suspects.”

The men, described as “dangerous”, have been linked to scores of bank robberies, cash-in-transit heists and murders.

Anyone who can assist can anonymously provide information via Crime Line’s 3-22-11 SMS service, on www.crimeline.co.za or call the 24-hour CrimeStop number, 086 001 0111.”

In total, more than 1 000 people have been arrested following tip-offs to Crime Line. A total of 18 of the country’s most wanted criminals had been arrested since Crime Line was launched in June, 2007, a clear indication that the service was effective in the fight against crime, said CrimeLine head Yusuf Abramjee.
