Durban - The bail hearing of four men accused of killing IFP supporter Cebisile Shezi was postponed on Monday by the Durban Regional Court

The bail hearing will take place on Thursday, the day after a by-election to replace slain Inkatha Freedom Party councillor Themba Xulu in Ward 39, Durban.

Mgezeni “Bhungu” Gwala, his son Mjabulelwa Gwala, Malusi Sibusiso Ncengwa, and Skhumbuzo Nxumalo are charged with the death of Shezi.

A fifth accused, Bonginhlanhla Gwala, was released on bail of R20 000 last month.

Shezi was shot dead outside the Thembalihle railway station, in KwaMashu, shortly after Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa addressed IFP supporters at a sports field in A-section, KwaMashu, on October 6. She was wearing an IFP T-shirt at the time.

Mthethwa had been speaking to IFP supporters in an attempt to reduce tension in the area after the abduction of Xulu, who had been out on bail for allegedly trying to burn down Bhungu Gwala's house. Xulu's body was found the next day.
