Tonga - A Mpumalanga man accused of rape shouted in protest from the dock on Friday when the court said it was still waiting for his psychiatric test results.
Fanie Ndlovu, 23, of Mangweni village, was appearing in the Tonga Magistrate's Court and has pleaded not guilty to rape, a Sapa correspondent reported.
“I am not mad,” shouted Ndlovu from the dock.
People sitting in the public gallery burst into laughter.
Magistrate Sibonisiwe Sibuyi ignored his outburst and remanded him in custody until September 1.
Ndlovu was arrested on November 8 last year, after a minor was raped at his home.
He has been in custody since then, and was sent for observation at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital after his previous court appearance.
